Experience level ( for long distance driving)
Drove full Route 66 Chicago to Pier at Monterey, Nashville to New Orleans, Boston to New York via Martha’s Vineyard and Newport Rhode Island. Also Lands End to John O’Groats on two drives, Around Ireland seeing every important sight. Nice [South of France] via Lake Como to Venice. Sydney to Perth across Nullarbor twice
Why do you enjoy long distance driving?
Best way to see the country side, meet the locals and travel without pesky other boring people on a bus.
What was your most enjoyable trip and why?
Driving around Ireland and seeing so many sights that I had read about over the years.
Visit to Guinness factory in Dublin and now able to enjoy a drop on special occasions. Also visiting all the James Joyce ‘Pubs’ in Dublin
Blow out in Chev Corvette in middle of Route 66, with run flats, no spare tyre and a large hole in the mag wheel.
Read up all the travel brochures, find out where they take the tourists and if it sounds interesting drive there yourself!
